Talking about popular culture and gender is an increasingly relevant topic for popular culture associations and entities. It could be considered that the vast majority of popular cultural entities and associations are linked more directly or indirectly with a high democratic consciousness, promoting values such as diversity and participation based on the creation of a collective identity. However, what has been detected is the lack of a gender perspective, both at the level of internal organization and also in the programming carried out by the entities.
That is why we organize this 8-hour training to the technical team of culture and especially to the people who are part of the area of popular culture to, on the one hand, provide them with tools to accompany associations and entities of popular culture throughout their transformation process in terms of equality and on the other, To be able to design effective transversal public policies from the gender perspective.
Main objectives
The main objectives of this training are:
- Raise awareness of key concepts on gender equality and culture
- Provide tools for the incorporation of the gender perspective in municipal policies related to popular culture
- Create a frame of reference to modify the dynamics between the municipal culture service and popular culture entities and associations
Contents
Broadly speaking, the contents of each of the scheduled sessions were as follows:
- Session 1: foundations for cultural policies with a gender perspective: framework and key concepts
- Session 2: tools, strategies and experiences for the incorporation of the gender perspective in public policies of popular culture and to accompany popular culture entities in their transformation process
Methodology
Methodologically, the theoretical content of the training sessions to apply the gender perspective to cultural policies was accompanied by dynamic and participatory activities with the main idea of practicing the concepts worked on in the classroom. The main reason for implementing this technique is that with practical activities learning is increased and teamwork is encouraged.
