Compilation of good practices in women’s entrepreneurship

Research study of initiatives and good practices of women’s entrepreneurship both at the national and international level with the support of the technical and management staff of the SOC and the Area of Entrepreneurship and Training of the Department of Enterprise and Labor. In total, 110 initiatives were identified and 19 were selected because they successfully met the criteria set out in the indicator.

Objective

The main objective of this study was to identify various initiatives with positive results at the international level aimed at promoting or giving women tools to undertake and that are innovative and extrapolated in the Catalan context.

Methodology and phases

Broadly speaking, in order to carry out this exhaustive study, various sources of information and means of collection were consulted:

1. Research studies, compilations of good practices and online searches
2. Interviews with expert entrepreneurs

The process of preparing the report has consisted of five major phases, which are detailed below:

1. Phase 1: definition and specification of the scope of the study
2. Phase 2: Design of the Valuation Indicator
3. Phase 3: Collection of different sources of information
4. Phase 4: analysis and diagnosis of the identified initiatives
5. Phase 5: Conclusions and future strategies

Main conclusions of the study

Regarding good practices to promote women’s entrepreneurship, the following conclusions have been drawn:

1. The need to design initiatives from an intersectional gender perspective.
2. The importance of these initiatives offering a multiplicity of services in order to provide effective and efficient support for the entrepreneurial process.
3. Importance of collaboration between agents and the creation of a solid and interconnected entrepreneurial ecosystem.
4. The need to have a diagnosis of the situation and to implement a pilot programme.
5. Commitment to the creation of women’s networks and working groups.
6. The need to evaluate good practices in order to be able to measure the performance and impact of initiatives aimed at women entrepreneurs.
