Conference on gender-based violence in the digital environment by the Government of Andorra

In a society of information and globalisation, new technologies have changed the patterns of relationships between people. This fact has given rise to a typology of violence typified as digital gender based violence, a type of violence that is committed, instigated and/or aggravated by the use of ICTs and that occurs in the digital environment.

The main means by which this type of violence occurs is through mobile phones, the internet, social media platforms or email. The magnitude of their impact is very high, because they end up being an extension of violence against women and girls, as well as other non-normative people, outside the internet and the technological environment.

Aware of this problem and on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women 25N, the Government of Andorra invited us to give the conference “Tools for the detection, prevention and action against the gender-based digital violence”.

Contents

The contents of the conference were closely linked to working on the context as well as providing practical tools for families:

1. Introduction and contextualisation of what digital gender-based violence is.
2. What is the situation in Andorra?
3. Tools for detection, prevention and action in the face of experiences with digital violence: we educate in new technologies.
