Formation and workshop for the creation of a protocol for the prevention of and action against sexual harassment, harassment based on sex, sexual orientation and gender identity or expression for the association in via

Objective

The aim of the formation was to offer knowledge and methodological tools for the development and improvement of the protocol for the prevention and action of sexual harassment, based on sex, sexual orientation and gender identity or expression of the association in via.

Formative session: organisation and minimum contents

In order to achieve the objective, a 4-hour training session was designed for the members of the association’s equality committee, who are the people in charge of drawing up the protocol.

In this training session, a set of contents were offered, which are listed below and which we considered essential for them to know in order to be able to create the protocol:

  • Sexual harassment, on grounds of sex, sexual orientation and gender identity or expression in the workplace. Definitions and examples of situations illustrating each of the types of harassment were given.
  • Regulatory and legal framework of application
  • Prevention and action protocol. What it is and the minimum contents that the protocol must include were detailed and recommendations were offered for each of these contents, which are as follows:
    • Definitions
    • Objectives and scope of application
    • Legal framework
    • Principles and guarantees
    • Rights, obligations and responsibilities of different figures in the association (management, legal representation of employees and employees).
    • Prevention measures
    • Measures of action and intervention, including the different ways of resolution and the faults and sanctions.
    • Monitoring and evaluation of the protocol

Although the training session was mainly theoretical, it was combined with various participatory dynamics in order to consolidate knowledge.

In addition, the session was accompanied by a presentation to make it easier to follow the session and a guide for the participants to follow the contents and take notes during the session. At the end of the session, good examples of protocols were offered that could be useful to develop your own protocol.
